The Best Part of Education
"Every child should have mud pies, grasshoppers, water bugs, tadpoles, frogs, mud turtles, elderberries, wild strawberries, acorns, chestnuts, trees to climb, brooks to wade, water lilies, woodchucks, bats, bees, butterflies, various animals to pet, hayfields, pinecones, rocks to roll, sand, snakes, huckleberries and hornets; and any child who has been deprived of these has been deprived of the best part of education."
~Luther Burbank
Fortunately, I had as a child the best part of education, befriending as many frogs, snakes, and insects as I could manage. Here is my first blip bullfrog. He let me get very close as he basked peacefully in the shallow pond at work. The problem is bullfrogs have been known to eat ducklings. He hasn't gotten any of them yet (there are 9), and they are getting bigger now, so I hope they are out of danger. :)
