I'm Supposed To Do What?

I know, I know – another bird on/in the birdbath. But he’s cute, and I ran out of time this evening. He just couldn’t make up his little bird mind about jumping in. He flew off and came back several times, but never stuck a toe in the water.

He's one of my little chirping sparrows who make the most wonderful racket -- my bird book Birds of the Puget Sound Region calls it a "cheerful din", and indeed it is. They live in the bushes and hedges around the house and seem to have such a joyful time that it's hard not to smile when you hear them.
