Christmas in Abandoned Port Area

Christmas Day walk took me to a recently abandoned port area in Sompasaari (the Port of Helsinki moved to Vuosaari earlier this year). The huge area is now mostly an empty field with piles of gravel. However, last week I noticed that there are three small wind mills on the point of the area and wanted to have a closer look. Not exactly the most idyllic place to have a walk but maybe I will find prettier landscapes tomorrow.

The sky was very dull, flat and cloudy, so I will not post a shot of the wind mills but a detail of a wire rope attached to one single ship still staying in the former port. This shot describes also the weather conditions quite well, chilly wind hurried me quite soon back home.
