How Many?

Rain this morning but cleared up with warm sunny spells about lunch time. Time to inspect the garden.
Hmm 2 babies under the lid by the greenhouse, another 2 under the plastic sack – that makes 4.
Nothing in the first compost heap, 1 in the second. Then we took the loose side off the square compost heap.. how many ?
We think there were 9 of all sizes from juvenile to full adult. So that makes 14 and I guess there could be more.
I discovered the slowworms all down the side of this compost bin yesterday and really couldn’t believe how many there were. We only have a small garden so I think that’s about 1 per square yard. So what is the collective noun for a group of slowworms?
