The Sidings
I found this foundation to a trestle bridge that spanned the Winooski river. Just beyond was an encampment of maybe 20 homeless men and women, young people and adults. Eighty years ago this could have been a hobo camp, men out of work, riding the rails, looking for their next job.
Now earth is swallowing up the lost. The concrete wrapped in vines, trees tangled in blue tarps, snow and rain falls on lost souls. The bridge is gone and hope is a long walk away.
