Breathing.....
....new life into a Blue Mountains Icon.
My Blip today is of the old Boiler House which is located on the site of The Historic Hydro Majestic Hotel, Medlow Bath in the Blue Mountains. I wanted to take an image today so that in a few months time I can revisit and show you the end result of this massive project.
We are all very excited to see that finally this iconic old building is having total rejuvenation and being restored to its former glory. It first opened in 1904 as a Health Spa and was one of the most popular holiday destinations in Australia.
It's pleasing to see that the new plans for the building include a lot of areas that will be open to the general public to enjoy for free. This includes a parkland area where we'll be able to go and take in the glorious views of the Megalong Valley while enjoying a picnic. The Boiler House will be converted into a Gallery and Cafe.
It's been a long time coming but it looks like it will be well worth the wait. I have included this link to the Historical Page which will give you some background if you're interested.
Postscript: For the past four months I have been enjoying the blip journals of a real character in New Zealand - "Snowy" of Snowy Down Under Journal. Now Snowy and I comment most days on each others journal and I felt compelled today to pick up the phone and give her a call. It was right out of the Blue and I was so excited when Snowy answered my call from way across the other side of the Tasman Sea. Snowy's passion for her wonderful garden the "Heather Garden" in Wanaka New Zealand is legendary and it has been a joy to follow her blips which in many instances are images of her beautiful garden. Great to meet you Snowy - let's hope we can have many more invigorating conversations in the future.
