Old Parish Church, Peebles
We had arranged a Blipmeet with BarbaraFurphy, who lives nearby in Innerleithen. We had a lovely tour of the town, which is an old Borders town with solid, grey stonework everywhere. The River Tweed runs through the town and there is a classic, arched roadbridge.
The Old Parish Church, which dominates one end of the High Street, is one of several Christian churches in the town. It is a congregation of the Church of Scotland and was Dedicated on 29 March 1887.
The church was constructed between 1885 and 1887 at a cost of £9,500. It includes some features from an earlier parish church built on the site in 1784. The architect was William Young of London who designed the church in a Gothic style.
In the town there is an outstanding War memorial, housed in a beautiful structure, and has a mosaic cross within.
Earlier, just outside the grounds of the Hotel, we saw some interesting alpacas, which we hadn't seen before.
If you would like to see some of these other images, head over to my Flikr set.
