Speedwell
Veronica. There are lots of different veronicas and my wildflower book describes 12 different speedwells growing in the UK. This might be Ivy-leaved Speedwell (Veronica hederifolia). Can anyone tell from this photo?
One of the two smaller ships that set sail for America with the Mayflower in the 17C was called the Speedwell. It set off twice but came back to port each time as it was leaking... It later turned out that it was being sabotaged by the crew who didn't fancy the long trip!
