Ice ferns - through a huge magnifying glass

Went to ExploreAtBristol today and watched primary school children investigating things. It was sad to find at least 4 things broken and children unable to read instructions and not enough adults there to help them really engage.

This was in an ice box with two enormous magnifying glasses through which to watch ice crystals growing after hot water had melted the previous patterns and then been drained off.
