In the gardens
Benmore Gardens are wonderful at this time of year. Every time we visit, there are new blooms on bushes, trees are further out than they were before, some of the rhododendrons are shooting out amazingly large prongs of new foliage, the bright yellow spears of the skunk cabbage are concealed among lush green that explains their nickname.
Today I heard a woman from one of the three bus parties let loose in the garden. "Is there anything worth seeing along there?" she asked a friend. I gave her to understand that more effort would be required of her should she wish to discover the delights of Benmore, but she was lost in the sluggishness of bus touring and would probably get no further than the lowest path.
Her loss. It was gorgeous.
