Down the line
London is approximately 255 miles and 5 hours away on the (fastest) train leaving here.
Although I support Welsh independence I was glad to know that my luggage would not undergo customs scrutiny since it contained, apart from a change of clothes, my laptop and a couple of books, the following items:
* Easter's lamb shank casserole and Russian pashka dessert (the Old Man's portions, frozen)
* homemade bara brith tea bread
* six duck eggs
* a bag of purple sprouting broccoli from the garden
* a bunch of woodruff (ditto) to make maitrank, May wine
* a bottle of Welsh blackcurrent liqueur
* a pack of chicken and chorizo sausages made next door
* a jar of kefir
* a fresh supply of treacle toffees
* a jar of wild garlic pesto made yesterday
* a favourite mug (mended)
* a snowy owl key ring that hoots when pressed
When you are 92 and housebound it is hard to recapture the flavours of life.
Apologies but I will have limited time for comments over the next few days.
