Biggles

Today Timaru Harrier Club held the Squire Cup,run on the farm in the Area it originally started. The race has been run now for 78 years and was not even held up for the war. This is our Clubs most Prestigious Race and hardest trophy to win. This is a handicapped race and the only way to win is to win the race outright or by breaking your handicap and yes my name is on Squire Cup.
Biggles is a friend and Club member Andy Hilton, some of the runners in the UK may recognise him. Andy is a member of the British Milers Club and now is in the process of completing his Private Pilots Licence, when he went solo I called him Biggles. Andy placed second overall today a great effort. Wee Jessica who comes to my coaching clinic was turned the wrong way by one of the marshals and ran the small lap twice and then on to the big lap Jessica ran 4.5k in 30:01, 2.5 K further than she should have and won the U12 girls race. Senior runners would have kicked up a fuss and whinged and moaned if this happened to them but not even a complaint from wee Jessica and it was a very very tough course.
