Result of day 1 at the Belmont Scouts family camp
Look how proud young Mr A is at the layers of dirt he has achieved! That's from breakfast fire lighting, riding in a ute to collect firewood, building muddy rope swings, and so much more. What a turn around from last night: he was tired and miserable when we arrived in the dark and damp for a family camp. I had been persuaded not to take our massive family tent by Mr D, who frankly barely survives camping.in fair weather, so camping in the cold and rain just wasn't his thing.
Well. The rain poured and poured down. I realised that our cheap 2 man tent containing 3 children was doomed. So with some helpers, I ran outside to bump into Mr A hysterically running into the hall crying that the tent was flooded! We were just in time, we got the other 2 kids out, pulled out the tent pegs and literally carried the entire tent inside the hall. We fished out the bedding etc, and set it up in the hall. It was a soggy night!
I poured out the water this morning from the inner of the tent!
