Hotwire

Day 2 back in Mali, the temperatures are through the roof (hitting 40 degrees C regularly) and the electricity system can't cope. The power in the house was flickering on and off; looked outside and this is why. The wires get so hot during the day, that when people get home and turn on the air conditioning and lights, the wires heat up inside as well. Then they burst into flames, as happened opposite the house. Took an hour for the technicians to arrive, but we had a new wire by the morning.
