Self-Portrait With Hair Worn Up

I have a beautiful photograph from the early 1940's of Mum looking down in a pensive way, and wanted to try and create a similar study of myself to give to her and Dad.

I've never used the self-timer on a camera before, so I played around with that today and then experimented with different shades of monochrome and some other settings to find a warm tone without going all-out sepia.

All rather an extreme way of checking what your hairdo looks like from the side, though.
