False Osprey

Well, you think you've seen it all, then you realize that, err, no ...

This is a red kite - normal as this is the red kite blog ;)

The red kite swooped down into the lake and took this fish, much like an osprey, except that the red kite was more deft with its actions as it didn't even get wet, unlike the osprey, which can go right into the water up to its neck.

The kite did a circle in the air, visibly it had spotted the fish, it then swooped down, gliding over the water and just plucked the fish up in its talons.

I've never seen them do this - it was pretty amazing to watch, so I had to share this, even though the photo isn't up to much.

I wonder if anyone else has ever seen this done ...
