Ticket To Ride
Last week it was my birthday. My (adult) children gave us a ticket to visit the childhood homes of Paul McCartney and John Lennon in Liverpool.
This is 20 Forthlin Road where Paul lived as a nipper. They cycled to each other's house to write songs and bonded over Paul's superior guitar playing skills.
John lived in a posher house which LooseCanon has blipped. But John's aunt Mimi with whom he lived was a bit snooty and wouldn't let him have a guitar. She thought he'd never make a living out of it and wanted him to go to University!
She didn't approve of the lad Paul from the council estate but put up with them playing if he would work for his O levels. He failed them and went to Art college. I think it all worked out quite well in the end though.
A unique songwriting talent taken from us too soon.
