Boxing Day Swim

In 32 years of Tenby Boxing Days, this is only the second I've managed to get up in time for. This is not an impressive feat when you realise that it starts at 11am. I'm not good with mornings.

This typical Tenby event is followed by heading down to the Sailing Club (which I do manage to ALWAYS get to) for perfectly acceptable midday drinking, then the 5 minute tour of the sales (you don't need more time than that, the town is tiny and the shops are few). After realising that there's nothing worth buying you head home for a late lunch which normally consists of turkey and chocolate.

A short snooze is usually advisable before heading out again at 8pm to meet friends.

Avoid the main square as it will be full of drunk kids who will make you feel incredibly old - "Omigod, I remember her/him/them when they were this high ..." But all is made better when your lovely friends remind you that we all own our own house, and cars, and we don't have to be home when are parents tell us.

And that is a Tenby Boxing Day.

*Mum wants me to add that the swim was started by Tenby boy Charles Dale, 'Mac' in 'Casualty' fact fans, and that she used to teach him. So I have.
