special guest

My family and I went to the "Jugendweihe" (youth consecration) of my cousin's son. It's a secular coming of age ceremony practised by German 14-year olds.

It was held in an old church in Magdeburg, used mainly for concerts and festivities, and was organised by the Youth Ceremony Society and local schools. Special guest was Dirk Michaelis, one of Germany's finest singers/songwriters (former singer of the popular GDR-band "Karussell") who performed some of his biggest hits.
