Peddlers Pool
Joined friends for a BBQ. They were staying over under canvas. We found this cairn...
The peddler was John Jones, whom died on the 1st of April, 1891. In his role as peddler he had called at two houses on the Ross of Mull. The folks living in these houses had contracted small pox and had been shunned by their neighbours. John, the travelling peddler nursed them through their illness. He carried on his way but found that her had contracted small pox and died by the roadside. He was buried on the spot where the body was found and cairn and cross built to mark the location.
A fitting memorial in a beautiful spot by the River Lussa.
