Day 1 of Happy Productivity
Inspired by a TED Talk by a positive psychologist Shawn Achor, I am going to do a series of things (for 21 days) to see how certain uplifting habits influence my work.
3 great things that happened today:
I slept in. While I didn't sleep much longer than usually, there was no jarring sound of alarm at 5:50 am. It was nice.
LM took a nap. For the first time since he was 2, while not being sick. It made me happy, though I am not sure why. I checked on him a few times, and he looked so peaceful and relaxed.
My students emailed me their final presentation PowerPoints. All were "correct", but some of the students really "got it", and made their presentations crisp, clear, uncluttered, with simple and powerful graphics. It made me feel really good to see that.
Random act of kindness: I went out of my way to tell a deserving prof that she taught a great class. I know for sure she did, because I took it. :-)
The shot is of a plant that I spotted in our back yard as the sun was going down. I loved the contrast of bright green with almost black shaded areas. I got a bit heavy-handed with processing, but I like the final result nevertheless.
A happy song to boot
