I met Estelle at today's Washington DC breast cancer walk and asked her who she was walking for.
"Me!" she said. "Four years in remission."

I smiled: "A survivor! Congratulations!"

She looked at me sternly and, pointing her finger, answered: "Not a survivor, a conqueror! Cancer is like a war: you don't just submit to it and let it happen. You fight with everything you've got. You CONQUER it. Best remember that, young lady!"

I stand corrected :)
