NEWS ABOUT NEWTS

I have several good blips this morning, but I picked this one. Then I didn't remember how to spell newt, so I goggled it. I have seen a lot of people handle these, and have done myself. Now I just don't like to bother things. I was told as a child not to touch these because they are toxic. I was told a lot of things as a child that didn't turn out to be true, but this guy carries a neurotoxin. It may cause skin irritation if touched, but if you don't wash your hands and touch your eyes or mouth, you could be in trouble. It rained last night, so there were dozens on the trail this morning. In Oregon, a 29 year old man ate a newt on a dare and died in 1981!
