The Quare Fella…
The Earl of Meath's lackeys at one stage proposed that the good people of Bray should erect a statue to their imperialist landlord. The council responded that they would sooner erect a statue to the Devil than to the Earl…
It transpires that the Honourable Reginald Brabazon was not without a sense of humour, since he bequeathed this statue outside the McDonalds Town Hall along with the building!
Wyverns (head, wings and forelimbs of a dragon, with a snake-like tail) are the traditional supporter of the Brabazon coat of arms, as depicted on the shield he holds - gules, a bend or, three doves trussed argent.
