We took a stroll through the deep dark wood....
What a great day the munchkins and I have had. Full on all day walking, climbing, eating, learning, falling, and map reading. Took a trip up to Westonbirt Arboretum today which isn't too far away, as it is 15 year anniversary of the Gruffalo, the Forestry Commission have dedicated trails and activities planned for Spring and Summer, through out the country. So we walked our little legs off and I took a lot of images. Couldn't decide which one to publish as my Blip, but settled for this one, since this is a journal, the munchkins enjoyed this sculpture, which I hasten to add was the list thing to see on our list, after 7 hours! It was carved in such a way that if they kicked, hit it with sticks, banged it it made different sounds, not quite up to glockenspiel standard but it kept them amused for quite some time. It looked as though there was a little door at the front, and despite Little Miss E's best efforts and my grrrrr patient explanation that it didn't open, she had a mini tantrum, after an other wise perfect day out.
Needless to say, within five minutes of the engine in the van starting she was fast asleep!
As Munchkin 1 wants to be an F1 driver, he knows he has to start out go karting, ...and that costs lots of pennies, so he is now on a mission to earn and save those pennies. So while I had a much needed adult refreshment, he set to cutting all the grass, which I might add is no mean feat. Then after dinner, and yet another adult refreshment, I set to on a mission, to scarify it and recut to collect all the dead grass. I am now well and truly pooped, but ...my work is not finished, I still need to do some final editing on some images I want to enter into our local camera clubs monthly competition, which need to be sent by tomorrow.
I wish there were more hours in the day!
