Wilmington NC is sometimes called Hollywood East because there are numerous movies and TV shows filmed here at Screen Gems Studio and surrounding areas.

The state of North Carolina gives the movies and television companies a tax incentive to do there film work here. I brings in millions of dollars to the local economy and provides hundreds of jobs. However the brilliant politicians think it is better to not renew the tax incentives.

A rally to collect signatures and support for the studio took place today at the foot of Market Street and the Cape Fear River. Hundreds of people attended in support of the studio.
