British summer holiday
Today was simply fantastic! I planned a little adventure for Tom, a trip to some of the places that I used to go to when I was small.
We travelled to Cheddar, Somerset and explored. My grandparents used to take me to Cheddar on the bus and I have very fond memories of it. Our first stop was to get an ice cream. Although we only asked for one scoop of salted caramel ice cream to share we got the most generous serving ever! A great start to our trip. We spent the rest of the afternoon climbing Jacobs ladder, exploring Gough's cave and doing the cliff top gorge walk (complete with a nap at the top in the sunshine).
Then it was on to Burnham-on-sea. As a child I came here at every opportunity with my mum and sister. I loved Burnham-on-sae so much that it was almost like a home from home. We had so many lovely holidays there. Perhaps the happiest memory I have is actually buying our rabbit Lucky from the pet shop. I got to show Tom all of the special places at Burnham. The best part was seeing how excited Tom was when playing on the 2p slot machines! We had a fish and chips to share and went for a walk along the beach before driving home.
A perfect day.
