Horsetail (Equisetum)

We went with 3yo and his mum to Cathkin Marsh where there is a small nature reserve with a hide and a walkway. 3yo arrived with his notebook and pencil so that he could write down what he saw! The list we wrote for him included mallard, yellowhammer, reed bunting, wheatear, pied wagtail and snipe. We also heard willow warblers.

There was a lot of horsetail pushing its way up. I like the translucent sharp green. There was also marsh marigold in abundance.
