Windmill Rose

Bank Holiday Monday
I think I have worked harder than when I am at work !
Started at 8am.
More gardening Richard wanted me to buy some Double Petunias only 24 this time though and of course it would be me to put them in, first dig out the weeds prepare the beds, I don't know if you have Mares Tails where you are,I had never seen them before until I moved to the Sea Side , I admired the fern like sprig that sprouted from the ground ,Little did I know that it is a Prehistoric Plant millions of years old and the roots go down 10ft, the only way to deal with it is to pull very gently and get out as much as you can of the dark black root. do not break it at soil level as it will divide into 4 new fronds. and be wary of the female part of the plant one chubby stork with a bud like top to it .containing millions of tiny spores, Oh yes this plant has learnt how to survive. oh and don' t drop any green part of the plant on the ground it will grow. best way to deal with it is to dry it on the concrete. when it has gone grey it is safe to put on the compost not before.

After Richards I went to my daughters expecting to have Teddy my Grandson for the day but he is going to other Nannies today so I stayed and weeded and cut back a lot of her garden as she tells me " I don't know what to do with it it all keeps growing" she is very good at keeping the grass cut and is learning about mares tails they can take over a whole garden if left unchecked.Rather like Bind weed and ivy.

Back to my blip thought how wonderful this rose looks as it is unfurling just like a windmill.
Hope you all had a great Bank Holiday
