Miss Pink's homework from school this week was to find a mini beast and draw it. And find an interesting fact about it. Well Miss Pink has chosen snails, and thoroughly embraced the challenge. She spent the day finding various snails and collecting them up and taking great care of them. The first one she found "toddler snail" went everywhere with her for at least an hour. He/she didn't seem to mind. I reminded her that snails wouldn't normally live in a Perspex tank, and so she set about making them a trail of leaves and flowers to lead them to a new "home" in a pile of damp foliage under the apple tree. She took great care to make sure the area wouldn't be seen from outsiders, and that they would be protected from big feet too. Oh and her special fact: Snails blow bubbles when they are scared. (It's actually to warn off predators, but that was Miss Pink's interpretation.)
