The Supper at Emmaus

I've been asked to take a photograph on the theme of Bloomsbury so I went over to the church of St Michael and All Angels at Berwick for inspiration. The church is well known for the extensive murals which cover the nave walls, chancel arch, screen and pulpit. These were painted during the Second World War by the Bloomsbury artists, Duncan Grant, Vanessa Bell and Quentin Bell. The Supper at Emmaus in by the latter and was painted in 1944, the background shows the South Downs and a well known local quarry. The three models were, apparently Australian servicemen.
