Bits and Bobs!

An introduction to Geocaching!

Headed East to Northumberland, across the North Pennines (where I had my first distant glimpses of snow this year!) to the former lead mining village of Allenheads. There is still plenty of evidence of the lead-mining past, in and around the village, including these old cottages which would have belonged to workers at the mine, though probably not the miners themselves, as these cottages must have been quite grand!

Our trip to Allenheads was to give me my first taste of Geocaching. We had great fun scrambling around hunting for ‘treasure’, at the same time as enjoying the stunning countryside. If you’re thinking of taking up Geocaching, be warned, it’s as addictive as Blip!!
