Dripping yellow.....

Everyone seemed to have had a very happy weekend and Bank Holiday and several more pupils now feel able to believe warmer days might be here for a bit and have donned the summer uniform. Even me ....maybe..

There is always much to do after hours and I was late leaving again this afternoon but I love the walk home and today the sun shone and there seemed to be so much yellow everywhere which is undoubtedly a spirits' raiser! This laburnum is in its prime and begged to be captured.

Wikipedia has some very interesting information about this plant. It is thought that possibly it originated in Lebanon; the suffix 'urnum' meaning 'belonging to'. It's claims to being poisonous are probably exaggerated though the seeds could cause upset due to their nicotine content. Eaten in quantity when mistaken by young children for peas in the pod, these symptoms sound pretty awful!

Wonderful thing, Wikipedia! Always something to say of interest!
