Hampton launch yards

A giant boat shed on Platt's Eyot where John Thorneycroft built some of his early Motor Torpedo Boats. The Thorneycroft fast boat works were taken over by Vospers in 1966.

In the 1970s I had the somewhat dubious pleasure of throwing up off the side of the Scillonian 2, which was one of his rather less impressive boats, although built at his other works in Southampton.
