Salt pans

Salt pans are quite common to see on Gozo, they are the traditional way to collect salt from the sea, generally not used now, though some are being restored to their old use. Some are square and regimented and some in lovely curvy pattern like this. There is an are an Malta called Salina where there are large square salt pans, which make a perfect habitat for migrating birds such as Flamingoes.
