"Are you my Mummy?"
Today was our monthly birdwatching group outing. The forecast was sun and showers which sounded ok so we went to Lake Vyrnwy RSPB Nature Reserve in Powys.
We left Oswestry in sunshine but by the time we had got to Lake Vyrnwy (20 miles away) it was pouring with rain. It rained torrentially throughout our visit. We doggedly walked around wiping binoculars and cameras to try to see any birds that were brave enough to be out and about. It was very pretty even though it was so wet, the bluebell woods were full of birdsong and we saw a number of different types.
This photo is taken from the hide. For some time we had watched the young siskin on the right sitting with it's head under it's wing in the tree. The nuthatch suddenly flew onto the same tree looking for food and then went up to the siskin. They looked at each other before they flew away in different directions.
When we got back to Oswestry everywhere was dry - there had been beautiful weather here. No wonder they built a dam at Lake Vyrnwy!!
