Of mice and men

Two fascinating books I am enjoying at the moment. The first looks at the state of research on animal consciousness - it's quite old - an Oxfam find, but easy to read. The other, also from Oxfam was a TV spin-off - the series was rendered unwatchable by the ponderous, patronising voiceover but here the photos are an extraordinary insight into the many different environments humankind has managed to inhabit.
