Overnight bag
Almost a year ago, my overnight sized bag burst, having travelled around the world with me for several years. Ever since then I have promised myself a new one, and an upgrade at that. I had an idea that I wanted a Scottish themed one, and had been looking at tartan ones that were nice bright pinks and greens.
When we booked our holiday to Lewis and Harris, I had an idea that I should get a Harris tweed one. These can cost upwards of 150 quid, but I hoped if I went closer to source I might get a bargain.
In Stornoway today, we tried various tourist trap shops, and spotted the bag I was after for £175. Ouch. That is quite an upgrade. But then we found the most charming shop, off the beaten track, in a dark and strangely dingy building, but the whole thing seemed all the more authentic for it. The shop keeper was an older man, wonderfully eccentric and very chatty. He even gave us a printed list of things we should do and see while we are on the island. He was worthy of the price of the bag alone!! (Which I got for £75- a bargain actually).
We had lunch with Gus again and walked the length of Tolsta beach, about 5K there and back. Hard work on soft sand, I think we will all feel it tomorrow.
Another beautiful night, the sunset from the cottage is amazing. http://www.blipfoto.com/entry/4317433
