Très Chic!

Our first full day in Paris dawned in sunny style and after a soak in our stylish roll-top bath we strolled to the boulangerie/pâtisserie around the corner to select some delicious pain au chocolat, brioche, apple and almond pastries for breakfast - which we ate on our lovely little balcony as we soaked up some rays. I think we'd have been happy to sit there all day but instead we set off to catch the Metro into the centre of town as there was much exploring to be done!

We strolled leisurely along the Left Bank from the Assemblée Nationale to Notre Dame stopping many times along the way to admire views, people-watch and just generally to enjoy the moment and delight in being here.

We'd hoped to visit the Musée d'Orsay as I'd enjoyed it very much on a previous visit but the queue was so ridiculously long that we gave it a miss in favour of further strolling and sightseeing. I took stacks of photos and am planning a Paris Blipfolio once I get home and have time to sort through everything... I'll let you know when it's ready for viewing!

A quick stop at Shakespeare and Company bookshop was followed by a brief foray into the Latin Quarter and a very welcome break at a lovely coffee shop on the Bd Saint-Germain. Then we caught the bus over to the Place de la Concorde, the Champs Élysées and the Arc de Triomph where there was some sort of remembrance event going on with retired service personnel carrying flags (perhaps something to do with the First World War?) and the most enormous Tricolore hanging from the Arc de Triomphe. Quite a sight.

Next we headed over to Trocadéro - where I stopped admiring the excellent view of the Eiffel Tower long enough to admire the style of this, 'none-more-French', woman - straight from Central Casting!

After a brief visit to the Eiffel Tower itself we were in urgent need of sustenance so we headed back to Montmartre in search of that elusive thing in Paris... vegetarian food! This is my 3rd time here and I've always struggled to find veggie food (non-dairy food is almost impossible!) which seems bizarre in one of the worlds great capital cities but we struck lucky tonight when we discovered the Gang Seng Tibetan restaurant on Rue Lepic where we ate our fill of delicious veggie options. I recommend it!

By now we were very weary so we walked back to our apartment to soak our aching feet in the second bath of the day!

And so to bed.
