Not another maddenii!
Yes, another maddenii! Soon they'll all be over so I might as well photograph them while I can. They've never been better than they are this year - we had a group in this morning from the Lakeland Horticultural Society, many of whom volunteer in their home garden, Holehird, and they were over the moon, several people telling us that Arduaine was so much better than Inverewe! Shhhhh!
This one is an unnamed Rh nuttallii hybrid, large, fragrant and flamboyant. I grew it from a cutting. I don't know what the other parent is, but Rh nuttallii itself comes from NE India, NW Yunnan and SE Tibet. Hillier's Manual says 'An ideal conservatory shrub'. We don't have to worry about the conservatory! Yet.
