Neighbours

...everybody needs good neighbours (are the UK and Aussie people on here singing now? Haha - gotcha! Sorry to others - it's a soap opera reference...).

So today was Grace's friend Hester's 3rd birthday. We've missed a few events over the past couple of weeks because of the snow, so decided to give it a go today because Grace was a bit cabin-feverish. The party was absolutely lovely, but it started snowing when we were out and our rubbish car got stuck once again on the way back home, even on the less steep hill up to our place.

Luckily, Hubby arrived with a spade to help clear the fresh snow from the road, and then some neighbours came in their 4x4 (wish we could afford one of those) and gave Grace and I a lift home. I left Grace with her Grandad and the neighbours and I went back to get a sleeping Ophelia. By this time, however, another neighbour had arrived and, between them, he and Hubby had managed to dig tracks up to the brow of the hill. I then rammed the car into first whilst Hubby and the neighbour pushed the car to the hilltop. The other neighbours were ready with a tow rope if all else failed.

It's a benefit of living in an area like this that everyone clubs together to help each other out when necessary, though I sometimes feel that it is always us who are asking for help!
