Life in Sunny Dubai

Hospitality

This is the symbol of Arabian hospitality - coffee and dates! The coffee pot in this picture is the typical one that is used here (they come in various shapes and sizes). Today, for the first time, I was in a restaurant where you could order Arabic coffee! For some reason it is not SOLD here. You can only get it for free - usually in a hotel lobby or government building. Not the best I've had but nice to know it is available.

I have had a great day; good at work with a special celebration of Janet's big birthday; the Arabian Travel Market exhibition finished today, we were allowed to leave at 4 so we could actually get home! Picked G up and headed out to the car stereo man. The Volvo's aerial still needs fixing. Unfortunately, he couldn't do it then so we ended up in Dubai Mall for dinner and a bit of broggling. Found a restaurant that overlooked the fountain and had a great meal. Called The Orchestra, they had a live musician - saxophonist - so we listened to her for a bit.

And then I got to browse an electronics store and even came away with a laptop stand with cooling fan (it's making a big difference) and a super-fast 32GB USB flash drive! :D Living up to my name . . . Happy Weekend! :D

PS. Think yesterday's blip of the sandwich will go down as my most unpopular ever!!! ;)
