Furnace Lass

Rainy Days

Not as bad as last night when we had torrential rain. Off course this was the last thing we needed as the flooding was even worse due to all the heavy rain swelling the burn which then led to greater flooding in the garden . This time the water level did reach the lower of the airbricks.

Got a clear photo of it to send to Bear Scotland then went down to the shore ( after 11 o'clock at night ) collected some large rocks which we used to keep the water away from the fire bricks, not sure if it worked but at least I felt we were doing something.

This morning sent of another email with said photo and they sent out a team of three from the local branch , followed by their boss all the way from Campbeltown. All very helpful and hard working, quickly got a trace on where the problem seemed to be, did all the things these guys do , rods down drain etc, packed the outsidw wall of drain with sandbags , so now it's wait and see what happens the first time the burn fills up with heavy rain. Also asked to call them out any time it starts to leak. Now we have sandbags aound the front of the house protecting the airbricks- now I can rest easy waiting to see what happens , hopefully nothing.

At least they are prepared to have an emergency call out if it happens again.

After all the complaints you hear about Bear Scotland I have nothing but praise for them.

Anyway , while I was working in the garden all day , clearing gravel chippings away from the front of the house to lower the ground level away from the airbiricks, I took this photo of a very drookit tulip with a fly resting there..
