A strange glow in the sky

I'm volunteering for a local festival at the moment and it's proving to be quite an experience. I'm meeting great new people, learning tons about the area and discovering new places right on my doorstep.

I feel as if I've just moved in and am seeing this strange land and its' inhabitants for the first time. I'm not sure where I've been for the last 20 years but it's like I'm only now discovering my community.

Just this evening I've been to an exhibition of paintings by the once famous "East London Artists Group" who fell from public gaze after WWII. These are beautiful paintings, themselves lost and now found - brought together for the first time in this lovely exhibition. Highly recommended if you live in London.

Then I visited a fellow festival volunteer who lives on an estate I didn't even know existed and whose balcony view you see here. There is a strange glow in the sky which either comes from a fast-approaching spaceship or emanates from the Orbit in the Olympic Park which you can see winking in the dark.

I think I know which it is but nevertheless I am living in a strange and exciting alien land at the moment and I'm loving it.

Eyes wide open.
