A Jerk on One End
This is certainly proof that I'm pack-rat. I found this old article tucked into a file folder with some of my teaching materials. It's written by Robert Hughes, a famous art critic, and was included in the Land's End clothing catalog. I know it was printed before 1999 because it mentions Hughes "newest book will be published in October 1999."
I really liked the article long ago, and I still really like it. As I was reading it the other day, this line stood out for me, "It is easy to look, but learning to see is a more gradual business." Of course he's referring to fishing, but subtling he's referring to life.
I think for a while, I'll practicng "seeing."
