Time and tide
Had an awesome paddle today on Bosta bay in glorious sunshine. We had noticed this sculpture earlier in the week but managed to paddle out to it today .
The Time and Tide bell is the idea of Marcus Vergette a sculptor. There are 12 installations situated around the coast of Great Britain. Bosta beach has been chosen to take part in this unique creation of art that will also serve for data recording.
The idea of the Time and Tide Bell is to create, celebrate, and reinforce connections, between different parts of the country, between the land and the sea, between the community and their environment.
Each Bell is Unique to its Own Site
Although the basic physical structure of the bell stays the same in each site, each bell will also be unique to its own site. Each of the sites bring something particular and unique to the whole group.
The Time and Tide bells work with the rise and fall of the tides, with the water at high tide moving the clapper to strike the bell. Played by the movement of the waves, the bell creates a constantly varying musical pattern. Could there be a more beautiful setting than here on Bosta beach on a day like this ?
