Blooming broom

Broom is considered an invasive species here. Like many other invaders it was introduced innocently enough by European settlers wanting a reminder if home.

Just after taking this, we met a couple from the Netherlands, on the last day of their vacation. They were bird spotting and told us they'd actually got tired of seeing bald eagles and were glad to see some hawks for a change. It reminded me of how lucky we are to be surrounded by such natural beauty, whether native or introduced (like me).
