Into the Blue

"Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing -- absolutely nothing -- half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats."
Kenneth Grahame
Wind in The Willows

A wonderful paddle today with 4 friends, from Sumner Lifeboat ramp past the Whitewash Head and Godley Head cliffs to Breezes Bay, and back again. Great weather and very 'interesting' sea conditions. Some swell and a fairly lumpy sea meant we were paddling through something approaching being in a washing machine; these waves are called clapotis. In short, the incoming swells break against the cliff and have nowhere to go, so break up into an irregular pattern of up and down, and up and down etc! If you want something more technical have a look in Wikepedia :)

The response to my God's Eyes image yesterday blew me away. So encouraging and yet humbling at the same time. Many many thanks everyone, for all your responses and comments. I hope to comment personally very soon.
