The Coffee Geeks
So today was the last day of our Advanced Roasting course and this is the bunch of passionate coffee lovers I spent the last few days with. What really made the day extra special happened later in the evening. Willem, pictured here second right is the owner of Boot Coffee and the host for our course, but he also has a Coffee farm in Panama specializing in the Geisha varietal, a delightful but rare coffee from that region. Willem took us to an intimate solo cello concert in Sausalito and afterwards discovered that the Geisha natural from his 'La Bula' farm had been awarded first prize in the Panamian National competition. This is an incredible result and means the coffee will probably sell at a price in excess of $100 per lb. As an added bonus for yours truly, at the end of the course I got to roast some of this incredible coffee and even directly following the roast, it already had great flavor!
