"Enlighten Up ".

A Zen like message posted at an Episcopal Church on Bethlehem Pike in Ambler, PA.

Different than the common counsel to "lighten up" (although that is good wisdom and essential to a well rounded life and yet very hard to do).

Deeper wisdom is to be found here. It involves simplicity. The task now is finding a second simplicity.

Illumination and fun.
Detachment, unselfing, lightheartedness.
Courage and humor.
Compassion and right intent.
Attention and pure seeing.
Finding joy in other's joy and carrying other's pain.
Sadness and equinimity.
Light and shadow.
Silence and surprise.
Pride and disappointment.
Discovering grace is everywhere.
Astonishment and great clarity found, later - paradoxically - often falling short, missing the mark, not acting mindfully.
Learning as I go, fumbling forward, working thru contradictions.
Always, we begin again.
